Situated in Central Europe, Czech Republic is a landlocked country surrounded by Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Austria. With a geographical area of 78,886 sq. km, the country has a population of 10.5 million. It has a GDP of EUR 164 billion and an economic growth rate of 4.3% for the year 2015, making it the fastest growing economy in the European Union. It is a stable and prosperous market economy, fully integrated in the European Union.
Its economy is mostly export-driven and remains sensitive to changes in the economic performance of its exports markets, especially Germany. The largest contributor to GDP growth remains consumption, which has increased by 2.9% in 2015. The GDP contribution by sector is represented by Agriculture (2.7%), Industry (38.2%) and Services (59.2%).
Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, is the highest performing area of the country which accounts to around 25% of the country’s GDP. The capital is also the major business hub of the country whereby 10% of the population lives.
Mauritius exported Rs. 121 million (2015) which consisted mainly of textile and apparel (men trousers and shorts/ women trousers and shorts of cotton) followed by a few agro products (seafood, sugar, and rum) to Czech Republic.
Enterprise Mauritius is renewing its initiative to organise a Buyers Sellers Meeting/ Contact Promotion Programme in Czech Republic on 24th and 25th April 2017.
