DARE TO GO. Venturing into unchartered territory, would perhaps best define ‘Export Development’ into new markets. Although the idea is appealing and exciting to all exporters, yet venturing into new markets is daunting and full of challenges, most of which can be unexpected and outlandish. Yet our manufacturers, propelled by a renewed spirit of adventure and dynamism, are de-facto called upon to look at newer markets for their products as the promises of our traditional markets (UK, France and USA) diminish and the growth potential in emerging markets remains marginal, as per the last data released by Statistic Mauritius . Hence the continuous search for new opportunities.
A Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Mauritius and Turkey was signed on 9 September 2011 and entered into force on 01 June 2013. The agreement provides duty-free and quota-free access on all industrial products except for a list of 70 clothing items on which duties will be phased down over a period of 4 years.
Enterprise Mauritius organised the participation of 5 local manufacturers in the CPP Italy which was held from 10th -12th September 2014 in Milan. Mr George Pap, a well-known figure in the Milan fashion industry was appointed as a facilitator to ensure the smooth organisation of B2B meetings between the local manufacturers and the most appropriate Italian buyers.
Italy remains a potential market for Mauritius. Our exports for Textile and apparel have been showing an upward trend.
Discover the Mauritian ‘Savoir-Faire’ and Sew Solid Partnerships for the design, development and production of a variety of fashionable products were the key words set out for this mission held from 16th – 18th September 2014 at Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition centre. The Mauritian delegation comprised Chemiserie Bellvill, Creations Isle du Cygne, FIT-U Garment, Heavy Knitting, Lindenwear, Maxiwear, Nouvelle Lingerie Mauricienne, Palmar Knits, Palmar Woven, Pumsi, Pure Knitwear, RT Knits, Sheentex, Sky Jeans, Star Knitwear and Waveline that exhibited a wide portfolio of quality products ranging from jersey-, ladies- and under-wear to knitwear, denim and shirts…..

Thanks to the contextualized models for the specific export markets, created by Citadel, Tamak Textile Ltd, the manufacturing arm of the Tamak Group, won the Enterprise Mauritius Gold Exporters Award 2014.
Enterprise Mauritius, together with the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), are planning to organise a BSM/CPP in Moscow in order to project Mauritius as a Reliable Sourcing Partner for Russian Buyers.

Activity in the U.S. market for select Mauritius factories has increased significantly with top brands and retailers even at the fast-fashion/low-cost level with customers such as FOREVER 21 increasing their footprint on the island in multiple firms. In addition, major players including BON TON STORES, TMS FASHION, PVH and RALPH LAUREN are testing orders and confirming business with factories who have the appropriate certifications, workforce, production and design capabilities to meet their very demanding needs….
China International Trade Fair for Apparel Fabrics and Accessoires
The autumn edition of the China International Trade Fair for Apparel Fabrics and Accessoires will take place as from October 20, 2014. The Inter Shanghai Home Textiles is a well-established fair. It is said to be the ultimate destination for the burgeoning Asia’s home textiles market and a dynamic platform for industry professionals to source and to gain design inspirations through the conveniently structured products displayed and a number of fringe events.
La Francophonie revient au pays de la Téranga
Senegal will host the 15th Summit of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, the Francophone organization which will be held on November 29 and 30, 2014.
