EDITORIAL

Exports activities have strengthened in the first four months (January to April 2014) and are expected to improve further in the coming months. While Total Exports grew by +6% in the first Quarter of 2014 compared to the same period last year, exports of Export Oriented Enterprise (E.O.Es), registered a growth of +5% for the period January to April 2014, compared to the 2.1% increase for the period January to March 2014. The impulse has come mainly from the textiles, jewellery and seafood sectors. The performing markets remain the USA (+29%), France (+15.4%), Belgium (+26.5%), Italy (14.3%), while our exports to the UK (-16.4%) and South Africa (-20.7%) remain under pressure.

Thursday 29th May 2014 at Maritim Hotel by two leading art directors, Mr Félix Boukobza and Ms Ji Haye from France and South Korea.

The Master Class organised by Enterprise Mauritius (EM) on Thursday 29th May at Maritim Hotel, was a success with the participation of 126 professionals from various design fields. The two speakers, Mr Félix Boukobza and Ms Ji Haye from France and South Korea, renowned art directors internationally, conducted the Master Class.

Regional Payment Systems

Enterprise Mauritius invited two representatives of Bank of Mauritius to conduct a presentation on the African Payment landscape covering the Regional Payment Settlement System (REPSS) and SADC Integrated Regional Electronic Settlement System (SIRESS) on Monday 26th May 2014 at Enterprise Mauritius.

The purpose of this presentation was to disseminate the advantages that exist for exporters trading among the COMESA and SADC countries.
