The 3rd Edition of MAITEX has been a success compared to the previous editions which were organized in 2012 & 2013. This year, we have combined Éclat Tropical and Rum Festival under one roof. Consequently, this has given a great impact on the different aspects of MAITEX 2014 on the economy.
This year’s edition had attracted more than 325 buyers from 31 countries. We had received buyers as far as from Niger who have placed substantial orders.
Enterprise Mauritius organized the Fifth edition of Eclat Tropical as an integral part of the Mauritius International Exhibition 2014 (MAITEX2014) from the 21st to the 24th August 2014 at Swami Vivekananda International Conference Conventions Centre, Pailles.
Enterprise Mauritius organized the 3rd edition of the Mauritius Rum Festival from 21 to 24 Aug 2014 in connection with MAITEX 2014. As for the previous editions of the Mauritius Rum Festival, we had the privilege to have in our midst Mr. Ian Burrell, the global rum ambassador who has always been by our side to increase the visibility of Mauritius rums on the international scene. Last year, the presence of Ian Burrell during the inaugural Mauritius Rum Festival created a very positive impact on Mauritius through press coverage and articles in international spirits publications.
Enterprise Mauritius organized “The Mauritius Offering” workshop in the context of MAITEX on Friday 22nd August 2014 for its International buyers and local economic operators. The objective was to promote Mauritius as a business hub for investment and trade. The interactive workshop covered the following sessions:

Mauritian Textile and Apparel Manufacturers strengthen their presence in Milan and Paris
The European Economic Forecast (Spring 2014) projects real GDP to continue recovering in most major economies of the Eurozone and it is expected that the power of purchase will show recovery signs into 2015. Exports of Textile and Apparel to Italy amounted to Rs 506mn in 2013 compared to Rs 346mn in 2012 while for France, it was Rs 3.2bn in 2013 as opposed to Rs 3.7bn in 2012. Amidst this slow recovery and the European markets being crucial for our Mauritian textile and apparel exports, Enterprise Mauritius is organising a Contact Promotion Programme (CPP) in Milano, Italy and renewing its participation in Zoom by Fatex in Paris, France.
